Sample prizes are up! Finally. I'm sorry that the banner is so squished, that comes from making it less gigantic. (Marvel at it's un-squished glory here.)
A big fat thank you to
ysabetwordsmith for endless patience, guidance and html code help and
magibrain for creating a great bingo card generator and sharing it with all of us. This fest would not exist without you.<3

The Idea: The idea behind the "1000 Words Or Less" Fest is to animate people to write more short pieces and thereby explore ideas that might otherwise fall to the wayside as longer, more involved projects take precedence.
---
The Dates:
The fest will run from September 5th to October 5th. This is the time to get cards and post bingos. There will also be an amnesty period during October (October 6th to October 15th), where you can post lonely fills on your card that aren't part of a bingo. Since I wa almost one day late in making this post, I will extend a grace period of one additional day to everyone participating, both for the creation phase and amnesty.
---
The Rules:
1. Get a bingo card. Cards can either be 3x3 squares or 5x5 squares. (Larger cards are okay, if you want to put in the extra effort, but you'll have to make/get them yourself.) Request one from me, made for this fest*, or use one you already have. You can also create your own card(s) using a bingo card generator. I use this one. [If you use cards from other bingos/communities, please make sure that their rules allow this.]
2. Fill prompts! Create something that deals with a prompt on your card to fill that prompt's square. As the fest name implies, all fills should be 1000 words or less in length. Fanfiction, original fiction, meta, poetry, lyrics, all are welcome. Podfic and other readings are too. So is calligraphy. Arts and crafts, do it. If it features words, you're good. Prompts are open to interpretation. Have fun with your prompts and don't stress about it. This is supposed to be a fun, low-effort fest. Get creative!
3. Make a bingo! Fill squares on your card in a specific pattern to make a bingo. A line (diagonal, vertical or horizontal) made of five squares is the classic. For this fest I will count all of these bingo patterns as long as they contain a line of five squares (!). (For fairness sake.) If you're ambitious, try for a blackout (= filling all the squares). [I will also count custom patterns as long as they contain a line of five squares.]
Please note: The only way to make a bingo on a 3x3 card is to make a line or to make a blackout. This means that the minimum for caliming a prize is three fills. You can totally do that! *insert cheerleading move*
4. Post your bingo to the
allbingo community. Please refer to the Allbingo Rules and Posting Template for the exact specifics of how to "call bingo". If any works you did for the bingo are fanfiction, consider adding them to the Allbingo AO3 Collection. Yay! You did it! Time to show off to everyone. And to...
5. Claim your prize! Comment on this post with your username and a link to your bingo post to claim a reward. Everyone who makes a bingo on a 5x5 card will get a banner, custom made with their username and a small decoration of their choice. (Hooray!) Everyone who makes a bingo on a 3x3 card will get a smaller banner with their username on it. (Superb!) A blackout will win you additional customisation options for your banner. (Whoo!) But that's not all! Everyone who participated but didn't make a bingo will get a participation prize. (This will be the same for all participants.) Please check the "Prizes" section further down before claiming your reward.
5a. Have fun. :)

Cards:
[Important!: If you choose the "image" card type, please save the card graphic to your computer. Sometimes Dreamwidth messes with embedded images, or the hosting service I use fudges them up. I won't be held responsible for lost cards.]
*To request a card, comment on this post. Please specify card size (3x3 or 5x5) and card type (image or code, see below). You may request both the image and code for your card. You can also veto up to three prompts from the prompt lists** you don't want on your card.
**All cards I make for this fest will contain prompts from three fest-specific prompt lists in this post. ("Spices", "Kind And Soft" and "Exclamations", all posted further down). If these don't work for you, please make your own card or use one you already have. [Again:If you use cards from other bingos/communities, please make sure that their rules allow this.]
I will also offer two public cards anyone can use. (See further down.)
[I am but one human and real life is a thing. Please give me some time to make your card!]
Card types:
image - a graphic I'll make, which you'll have to embed in a post on your journal - prettier but less functional - if you want your card to show which squares have been filled you'll have to edit and re-post the image
code - html code for your card, which you can post into your journal via the html editor - more function and minimalism, less decoration - great for linking to fills directly on the card

Prizes!:
[I am but one human and real life is a thing. Please give me some time to make your prize!]
5x5 bingo: banner with your username and one decoration***
3x3 bingo: banner with your username
blackout on any card: banner with your username, three decorations*** and a colour of your choice****
no bingo but at least one fill: small participation reward
Sample Prizes:
3x3 bingo

5x5 bingo

blackout

Prize Customisation:
Usernames: Please tell me what name to use and spell it like you want it to be spelled. I'll only redo prizes if I messed something up. Please also specify:
***Decorations: Please choose something like "star", "flower", "wave", "leaf", spider". I can't/won't add decorations that are either A) incredibly detailed/specific or B) I can't easily find a stock image for (because I can't draw that well). No fandom specific stuff, sorry. Small details like "no pink", "no black" or "no pinecones" are okay. I want you to like your prize. I will redo your prize once if you hate it.
****Colours for blackout prizes: Please choose something like "light blue", "red, not too pink-ish", "turquoise", "grey", "purple". I won't fulfill requests for "the colour of eiderdown" or "gravel coloured" and similar things. Please also be aware that not everyone has the same definition of a colour and that screen calibrations vary. I will re-colour your prize once if you absolutely despise the colour you get.

Wow, that were much more than 1000 words! Questions? Just hit me up! a simple comment on this post will do. But please give me some time to respond. I'm not always online and sometimes my brain is temporarily replaced by wool.

(Also, I have the word document with the prompts from the bingo generator still, but wasn't sure where to send it?)

Date: 2018-10-06 11:45 am (UTC)Bingo: blackout
preferred name: Ellafic
colours: I like the rainbow thingy you're using? Otherwise blue or green is good - I prefer cool colours rather than warm.
deco: I like ravens and magpies and stuff? (my mind has gone completely blank). The icon I'm using would be cool if you can get it down that small without it turning into a smudge.
