I like positive stories about same-sex families, and you did a nice job pointing out that inorganic people wouldn't make sex/gender distinctions the way humans do.
i think those positive same-sex family stories are super important, so i do my best to write them. there are so many stories out there dealing with the "issues" same sex couples have, that i just want to write stories where it's a fact, it's accepted and everyone is just living life.
thank you! inorganic people wouldn't have humanity's hangups and i know that's hard to express sometimes.

I agree, and I'm really pleased to see more folks doing this. I think fanfic has made a big impact on how people perceive same-sex couples: that it's cute instead of disgusting or unthinkable.

The official term for that is "background parity" and it's a sign that the group is gaining acceptance.

I like writing and reading about nonhumans, and I'm a gender studies scholar, so this is something I keep an eye out for.

thank you! i knew there had to be a technical term but i had no idea what it was.

well, sometimes my Cybertronians come off a little more human gendered than i want them to (and sometimes a given universe or AU is set up that way on purpose) so you may not enjoy those as much. read with caution. ^_^
Congratulations!
