August Allbingo Accomplished

Surprisingly alliterative, but also sadly true. Today is the end of August, and “As You Like It” is officially closing. Did everyone have fun with it?

Cornerofmadness, Kiramaru7, Ysabetwordsmith, and I made bingo. This means that I'm finishing Cornerofmadness' banner today, and will print and hang my own on my real-life desktop for a few days to help get me revved about the new September theme. I'll be keeping a close eye out for last-minute posts, too.

I will also be hosting September, with a new theme (tone), and a new banner for those who achieve any five fills.

Because this is becoming a regular event for me, I'd also like to take a moment to admit that, yes, I create either “gentle fiction” or “gen” cards because that's what I enjoy writing. I want to explicitly state that this is personal preference and I'm not expecting fills to follow the same pattern. Write what you each enjoy, please!

I'm perfectly okay with gen cards. It's easier to make it into whatever it is I want (not that I'm opposed to other things but yeah, I'm good with this).

Since I've decided I want to host regularly I wanted to clarify that the trend was NOT meant to imply a limitation on the fest.

Unless I create a "disasters" theme...

:D You should totally do a disasters theme while hc_bingo is in session.
Round Six is open from June 15, 2015 to January 3, 2016. December hasn't been claimed yet. Or you're already listed for Villains in November, which would be an obvious time to use prompts from hc_bingo (five lists), horror tropes, death, desperate situations, the end of the world, or negative coping techniques.

And if you want to be mean to the villains, problems that can't be solved by hitting.

As a Christmas-celebrating Buddhist, it's a really,really low pressure month for me. (Laughing.) Just the way I like it!

I'll take hosting December if no one else wants, and definitely give you a break for the Solstice.

I'll take November, Disasters, and "problems that can't be solved by hitting" if no one else wants in.

Is anyone already tagged for October???? Seriously?

Same here. Gen is great because it is so flexible. People can do whatever they want with most gen prompts. It is much easier to make a gen prompt romantic, kinky, etc. than the other way around.

That said, they also tend to be more generic which can get frustrating for people who write a LOT of fills. So it is also nice to have some fests where we do more thematic prompts, like Winter Fest in July. genprompt_bingo usually has a category they switch out every round, that can have prompts taken from names of battleships or song titles or whatever. That's really cool.

I like challenging myself.

I've been thinking about a specific KIND of bingo which could blend with someone else's theme-- maybe something like identifying qualities for characters one month, or an entire card of diversity ideas. Things which would pair without making brain-breaking combinations like "free time" and "household chores."
