Games and Entertainment Meet and Greet

Lots of folks want to see more activity on Dreamwidth. While researching community activities, I came across the idea of thematic meet and greet events. That seemed like something which might work here, given a membership of several hundred people and a new theme each month. So I made one for this month's theme. It gives people a place to meet folks with similar interests, and to squee about the current theme.

Here is the basic outline. Fill in as much or as little of it as you wish, depending on your interests as they relate to the Games and Entertainment Bingo Fest.


Name: Whatever you wish to be known by.
Sex/Gender Identity: Share any descriptions you wish people to know about you, including pronouns.
Find Me At: Your other blogs, services, or venues.

What I Love About Games: Favorite mechanics, effects, traditions, pieces, tropes, etc.
What I Hate About Games: Things you wish would go away, in real life or entertainment. Die, trope, die!

Favorite Genre(s): Fantasy, pirates, space marines, strategy, wild west, romance, etc.
Favorite Type(s): Tabletop games, video games, sports, etc.
Favorite Quote(s) About Play: Put your cards on the table.
Great Fanworks Featuring Games: Fiction, music videos, filksongs, whatever. Kirk/Spock/Chess helped start fanfic!
Best Games I've Seen Onscreen: Scenes in movies, television shows, etc.
Headcanons: Which characters do you associate with what games?
Games I Love To Play Myself: Solo or group, share what you play most avidly.
Best Game I've Ever Played: In person or otherwise.
My Collection: How many games do you own? What kinds? How are they organized?
Favorite Game Day Foods: Pizza, fruit tray, soda, etc.
Favorite Blogs or Communities: Anything on Dreamwidth, or other venues, relating to the above topics.
I've Been a Gamer Since: How long have you been playing games?
Gamer, Designer, or Both: Do you play games, make games, or some combination of the two?

What I Love About Games: there's so much; with certain games it's the challenge, or the story and characters, or the art direction, or even sometimes just being able to have a chill experience where i can just shut my mind off for a bit
What I Hate About Games: live service games, gacha games, loot boxes, etc. you know, the usual bag of incredibly predatory practices that are destroying the medium. oh yeah, and let's not forget AI generated content.

Best Games I've Seen Onscreen: honestly i loved the Silent Hill movie. also really liked Welcome to Raccoon City, even tho i wouldn't say it was a good film by any stretch of the imagination, it was a fun film. also watched the first two eps of the Fallout show (i am very slow to watch things) and thought it was such a great adaptation. the Dungeons and Dragons movie was a lot of fun too! but if we're talking about movies about games (like chess etc) then i am sadly drawing a blank :c
Games I Love To Play Myself: i have more time logged in Civ6 than any other game, tho Baldur's Gate 3 is now a close second lol

About My Blog: i mostly post fandom-related stuff (primarily fic) but i also like to do write-ups/reviews/recs for different things i play/read/watch. anything nsfw is locked with warnings provided, but i also curse casually quite often (same goes for when i stream;;;) and don't warn for that
What I Create: i'm mostly into video game fandoms and write fic for Resident Evil, Evil West, and Detroit: Become Human. i also like making fanmixes and icons and my subjects are most often video games, but i post anything graphics-related at thirdnight. when i stream i also like to try to showcase many indie games, especially during Next Fest.
What I'm Looking For: i'm fairly new to DW so i'd really like to find more blogs to follow! i'm in a lot of fairly niche fandoms so i don't mind expanding my horizons there but it'd be real cool to meet more ppl who enjoy games in general c: if you yourself post about gaming or know any communities about it i'd be happy to know! (also no pressure to friend me back or anything, i'm just happy to meet new ppl/have more blogs to read c:)
