This month I will be hosting the Kinky and Unusual Situations Bingo fest. Have you ever wanted to take a favorite character and see what they would do in a completely unfamiliar situation? Or explore an on-screen dynamic that you're sure would be kinky if it wasn't mainstream entertainment? Perhaps you already have some less than vanilla characters and you want to throw them into even stranger and kinkier situations. Then this is the fest for you! You can use any Fandom you want, or choose one of your original works. Don't have anything pre-existing? That's okay too, you can use something brand new. This is a chance to play around and really explore what makes a character tick. What do they do when they are completely out of their depth? Who do they turn to for help? Do they freeze or do they dive right in? The possibilities are endless!
These prompts will probably work best for written fills, but you are, as always, free to choose any creative medium to make a fill, whatever strikes your fancy. This fest will run from June 1 - 30, though you can claim a bingo after the fact as well. I have made some public cards below, and I have included the lists I used so that you can make your own card if you so choose.
I went a little overboard with special bingos and achievements for this fest. I tried to pick bingo patterns that fit the theme, and achievements that matched well with the prompts. All achievements and bingos are optional, so you can pick and choose which ones work best for you. All the regular methods of claiming a bingo apply, along with what I have listed below.
Bingo patterns:
In keeping with the theme of kinky and unusual situations, I came up with some non-standard bingos for this fest. Most of these should work for any size card you make, but some patterns might only work with the larger cards.
Letter Bingos: For this fest, you can make a "U" bingo by using the first column, the last column, and the bottom row. This works well for most card sizes. You can make an "S" bingo by filling the top, middle, and bottom rows, plus B2 and O4. This pattern only really works on a 5x5 card. You can also make a "K" bingo by using the whole B column, I3, N2, N4, G1, and G5. Shifting the "K" to start in the I column is also valid.
5 Random Squares: Fill any five squares on your card and claim a bingo. Bonus points if none of the squares you use are touching. If using a card that is not 5x5, the number of fills you need is equivalent to the number of rows/columns on the card. For example, 4 random squares on a 4x4 card would count for this bingo.
Missing Corners: A play on the typical "4 corners" bingo and the "outer square" bingo. For this one, fill all the prompts on the outside of the card, except for the corners.
Parallel Diagonals: Make any two diagonal lines, touching or not. As long as they don't cross over each other, they count for this bingo. An example on a 5x5 card would be B2, I1, O3, G4, and N5, but any combination of two lines is valid.
Checkerboard Bingo: Fill every other square, as if you were choosing only the white (or black) squares on a checkerboard. On a 5x5 card, if you start with I1, you will have 12 fills. If you start with B1, you will have 13. Both count for a bingo.
Asterisk Bingo: This bingo combines the "X" bingo and the "+" bingo. It only works on the 5x5 card though, since you need an odd number of columns.
Exclamation Point Bingo: This is essentially a vertical bingo that is missing the second square from the bottom. On a 5x5 card, B1, B2, B3, and B5 would make an Exclamation Point bingo. This will also work for a 4x4 card, with three fills instead of four. If you're feeling ambitious, you can make multiple exclamation points on the same card and claim them all.
Boob Bingo: On a 5x5 card, fill all the squares on the outside, as well as the one in the middle to claim this bingo. This pattern will work on any card where you can make an outline and fill the center square.
5 Mirrored Squares: Choose any five pairs of squares, using a vertical and/or horizontal line of symmetry. You can choose to make one fill for each prompt, or use both squares of the pair in the same fill. An example would be B1 and O1, I2 and G2, N2 and N4,G1 and G5, and B3 and O3. You can choose any pairs you like, and you can do this on a smaller card as well, just match the number of pairs to the number of rows/columns in the card. If you want to use a square twice, for example B1 and O1 and B1 and B5, make a second fill for the square that is being reused.
Special Acheivements:
I looked at the acheivements listed on the Bingo and Achievement Options page on
allbingo and picked out a few of the ones I thought meshed well with this fest.
Same Damn Spot
Bingo of five different fills created for the same prompt. This can also be played for double-bingo with ten fills or even blackout with twenty-five.
Rare Delights
Bingo in which every fill features the same small fandom, rare pairing, bit character, or other obscurity. Explain the nature of the rarity when you make the summary post for your bingo to claim this achievement.
The Ships Sail In
Bingo in which each fill features a different "ship" -- a pair or moresome of characters connected in a sexual and/or romantic way.
Straight on 'til Morning
Bingo in which every fill features the same "ship" -- a pair or moresome of characters connected in a sexual and/or romantic way. This is good for you folks who ship One True Pairing (or OTx for numbers > 2).
**For this fest, both of the above achievements may be completed using gen pairings instead, if you don't want to write sex and/or romance.
All at Once
Every prompt on the card crammed into a single work. Shove 'em in there however you can. Do this for sex/romance and it becomes If It Fits, It Ships!
