Surprisingly alliterative, but also sadly true. Today is the end of August, and “As You Like It” is officially closing. Did everyone have fun with it?

Cornerofmadness, Kiramaru7, Ysabetwordsmith, and I made bingo. This means that I'm finishing Cornerofmadness' banner today, and will print and hang my own on my real-life desktop for a few days to help get me revved about the new September theme. I'll be keeping a close eye out for last-minute posts, too.

I will also be hosting September, with a new theme (tone), and a new banner for those who achieve any five fills.

Because this is becoming a regular event for me, I'd also like to take a moment to admit that, yes, I create either “gentle fiction” or “gen” cards because that's what I enjoy writing. I want to explicitly state that this is personal preference and I'm not expecting fills to follow the same pattern. Write what you each enjoy, please!

This month, the challenge is to play with writing styles, instead of trying to write a complete piece. (Well, I might be able to write a complete haiku…)

Instead of offering ideas for subjects, or scenes, the September bingo will focus on trying new voices (tones) for very short fills (200 words or less, though that is not a LIMIT, just permission to stop when you want). Hopefully, this will encourage trying something outside the writer's preferred writing style, whether simply a mood piece or a complete shift in narrative viewpoint. The idea is to stretch safely, not sprain your brain, so the reminder of short fills is meant to be encouraging, rather than limiting!
