If this is "Fluff and cuddles," why are there so many sexual or romantic prompts on the list? I'm STILL culling them, trying to make a bingo card, and it's my fourth time through the hard-to-read wall of text.

This is the original list from the original community. It's the same list as the one from previous years. Actually, the second public card is not sexual at all.

Because the list came from the now-defunct DW community by the same name, and was intended as a contrast to the other branches of fanfic that can get very dark and heavy. The goal was to encourage more light and fluffy works, not necessarily nonsexual or nonromantic ones. Also, many prompts are contextual -- "kissing" could mean romantic kissing, or kissing a baby, or kissing cousins.

If you prefer a card that has no sex/romance prompts, there are lists for that on the Bingo Card Generator:
Asexuality & Demisexuality
Childhood Experiences
Gentle Fiction
Platonic (under Valentine's Day Prompts)

You could make a card with one or more of those lists instead.

Okay, I was under the impression that cotton candy was a gen fest, not merely 'fluff,' which is my mistake.

Cottoncandy Bingo is not a gen fest. See genprompt_bingo for that, which is still active.

Some fests, like the Valentines Bingo, divide prompt lists by type and include a gen or platonic one.

You could also host a gen fest here, using whatever prompts you wish.

August is reserved, but September and November are available. It's also acceptable to stack more than one fest in a month, or use a different time period.

Just an interesting thought: I always saw (and used myself) "fluff" as a term generally used in ship fic. I wonder if this is something that differs from fandom to fandom.

Fluff is the light end of the spectrum. The heavy end can be "pr0n" or "hurt no comfort" or "doom'n'gloom" etc. Proportion of usage may vary from one fandom to another, but fluff can be slash, ship, or gen. In fact the community's name is short for "cottoncandy fluff," meaning light and sweet.

I said sexual OR romantic. On the 9-square block "marriage proposal" is therefore 12% of the possibilities. Which means it is even MORE important to take out when I'm not interested in writing "anti" fills using annoying prompts.

I just think that your definition of GEN is very... odd.

I'm not sure how you got the idea that it was a completely GEN fest. Fluff doesn't equal GEN. And there are a lot of non-romantic and non-sexual prompts on the list. I'll make you your own card if you want.

Community standard is anything goes, but individual hosts can set other parameters for their fest if they wish. See the Bingo & Achievements post for goals regarding different sizes and styles of fill.

Look on the Bingo and Achievements page and you'll see the Diamonds and Dynamite one for small fills.

If you don't get a line, you can always do another shape, like a postage stamp. You can also make a smaller bingo card instead of a traditional size. I usually do a smaller one, but I'm experimenting this time. I wish I could take any responsibility for the generator, but that was someone else. I just linked to eat like most hosts for the month do. I'm sure we're all grateful for it. I hope you enjoy the Cotton Candy Fest. And you're never really late here. :-)
