Welcome to the Fall Festival. spiralicious and I will be your guest hosts for the month.
We personally love all things fall and Halloween, but both spiralicious and I realize that not everyone has fandoms or original universes that support that. We have tried to come up with a few lists that could fit into almost any verse, even if Halloween is not your cup of tea.
Last year, we added two special lists to celebrate the premiere of the 15th and final season of Supernatural. Because of the pandemic, that season was not allowed to run through to the end as planned and they are having a “season 15 part 2, final season premier” this month. In honor of that, we are keeping the lists as part of the bingo this year as well. One list is all the “creatures” that have appeared during the run of the show. The other is a list of “Supernaturalisms;” quotes and phrases that are important to fans of the show. Thank you to everyone who helped us compile these lists.
Feel free to use any prompt how they speak to you. We have them separated just to make the list a bit more manageable.
For example, if you use a movie or music prompt, feel free to just work off the title, or you can remix the movie. It's up to you.
A fill can be anything. We mean ANYTHING you can think of. Some examples include fics, poetry, vids, podfics, handicrafts, art, icons, wallpapers, memes, movie/book/tv/music/fic recs, movies/book/tv episode/music reviews, playlists, tea party menus, amigurumi, baked goods/candy, collages, playlists, your favorite characters’ lists to the Great Pumpkin, Subeta HAs, song parodies, Halloween carols, nail art, manips, your favorite character's Halloween costumes, make-up tutorials, how each of your friends will die in a Horror movie, etc. You get the idea. Your fill can be whatever you dream up. We look forward to seeing what you make us add to the list next year.
As usual, there will be banners at the end of the month.
This is a Fall Festival themed month, so why not share some of your favorites and rec yours or someone else's work?
Anything goes this month. The only limit is your imagination.
There is a public card at the bottom of this post, or feel free to make your own card using your own prompts or any of the lists that speak to you at the bingo card maker here..
We look forward to seeing what everyone does with the theme.

Date: 2020-10-12 11:34 am (UTC)This is a Fall Festival themed month, so why not share some of your favorites and rec yours or someone else's work?
October's the month that I try to make the most of my skill with the creepy. I declared it "Creepyfest" the first October after I'd joined AO3, and began writing as much creepy and suspenseful content as I could fit into the month.
At the time, my fandom was Person of Interest; I've collected the POI links here (post marked NSFW on account of discussing disturbing content), a list that goes over all the weird and disturbing content I've made so far. That includes Lovecraftian Horror, Body Horror, Psychological Horror, Torture, Supernatural Horror, and even a piece about trying to undo the past but only making it worse (I think that's a form of Existential Horror, but I'm not sure on the terminology).
Two years ago, I spearheaded a group project that attracted around a dozen participants, and we collectively created a worldbuild based on the SCP Foundation but starring the POI cast as they would be in that setting (each affected a different way). The central fic is mine, but I worked closely with each of the other authors so that all their side fics (except one) are canon to mine; they helped define my world and the nature of several characters. My fic deals with an effect that erases memories so thoroughly that you cannot re-learn them (a powerful antimemetic effect). I'm having fun with the meta effect on that one: Every time the cast forgets a character, I go back and write them out of the story (while leaving in hints that they're there, just not "remembered"); they are the "Unseen Things" of the title.
I've also got a vampire tale with the horror turned way down, although with a pronounced psychological effect on the main character (at least at first). Notably, it is not a Ship fic, and it did net me one of the comments I'm most tickled by: "I was expecting some sort of shallow, Twilight-esque story (no offense, if you happen to enjoy Twilight) and I was very pleased and surprised to see that you really put a lot of work into your story."
I have yet to do such a rundown of my Marvel Cinematic Universe work, but I started out strong with Acceptable Loss (in order to save the Nine Realms from an otherworldly foe, Loki must decide whether to make the ultimate sacrifice), and I've got all manner of dark and suspenseful fare in that fandom as well (mostly, though not exclusively, Loki-centric).
My other creepy fandom of note is Welcome to Night Vale, though I haven't yet created much. If you're after really creepy fare, try my favorite lengthy WtNV fic, The Reorg, wherein Carlos joins StrexCorp because the alternative is worse... and then they mess with his head.
Don't even know if anyone will see this post, all the way down here, but I hope some people get a chance to enjoy my creepy content!
Re: Creepyfest Content?
Date: 2020-10-15 07:45 am (UTC)Very awesome. I look forward to checking these all out!
It looks like you have enough here to make a bingo with your recs in this comment. If you make a bingo post to the community, more people would be apt to see them and Vexed would like me to point out you would get a personalized banner for it as well.
If you would like to do that and need help making a custom card and/or headers for a post, let us know.
Hope you're having a delightfully creepy October.

Date: 2020-10-15 08:24 am (UTC)I did make a handful of cards with random prompts from your list, but I'd been thinking to use them on possible upcoming work, not considering what could be done with them based on previous work.
Re: Creepyfest Content?
Date: 2020-10-15 08:48 am (UTC)In general, yes. See "Blast from the Past" in Bingo and Achievements. However, each host sets the parameters for their fest, so details may vary. This only matters a lot if you're playing a fest that offers banners or other prizes for making bingo -- the community rule is that you can play any card at any time.

There's no reason you can't do both.

Essentially, we just want you to enjoy yourself.

Date: 2020-10-15 09:03 am (UTC)I've personally done several cards that were all various types of papercrafts and handicrafts and I did a bingo one year that was all games avatars I'd created for the Winterfest in July bingo.
It's fun seeing what people come up with.
