As the original is for publication and the fanfic is for a challenge, I can't link to anything so I'll post snippets as I used the prompts for completed chapters.
Death - I went literal with this one as well as it's transformative meaning - BtVS/AtS Like Stone - Images flooded my brain. A whirlwind of bodies and dust congealing into a woman, first Cordelia, then Mother and then finally Faith. The look on their faces was of heart breaking confusion and terror.
The Lovers - also literal, in fact pretty much all but queen of cups was literal from the name vs using what the card means. Mischief Christmas, Original - Zia danced her out onto the dance floor. Where she wore flats, Dolores wore heels, making it easier to dance cheek to cheek. Dolores's subtle perfume held hints of spice as Zia breathed her in. She kissed Dolores tasting the buttery rum on her lips. The next song was slow as well. They swayed around the dance floor, stealing kisses as they went.
Justice BtVS/AtS Like Stone -Connor smiled, polishing off his beer. “I was going to call you later, Dawn until I realized that really it was just better Lindsey and I come here and talk this vision crap out. Nami and Julio arrested both Sean and Amanda.”
The Hanged Man Mischief Christmas, Original - Zia grunted, missing her grab for Kane as he was hauled over the railing.
He clasped the bannister with both hands. The ivy hauled on him while other tendrils pushed him away from his handhold. Holly's sharp leaves sawed at his fingers. “Just spell break it,” he bellowed. “Worry about the how and what of it when I'm not about to die!”
Queen of Cups - I went with it's meaning of mature women and wisdom Mischief Christmas, Original “I'm grateful that you're willing to spend time with an old woman,” Joanne said, patting Kane's hand. “I know I can be a bother.”
“Oh, no bother,” he assured him. “You have great stories. Have you ever thought of writing them down?”
Her dark eyes brightened. “Oh, but I have written them down.
