r/Fantasy's annual speculative fiction bingo challenge is up on Reddit.

It's a reading challenge, a reading party, a reading marathon, and YOU are welcome to join in on our nonsense!

r/Fantasy Book Bingo is a yearly reading challenge within our community. Its one-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new authors and books, to boldly go where few readers have gone before . . . (well, many actually because this is the TENTH year of our existence).

The core of this challenge is encouraging readers to step out of their comfort zones, discover amazing new reads, and motivate everyone to keep up on their reading throughout the year

How long have you belonged to this community? What attracted you to it? How often do you play?
The first card I can track down is dated June 2020, so nearly four years. I like having prompts to work on for the month. I play whenever I like the theme.

What do you like best about creative bingo? Do you feel that it helps you as a creative person?
I enjoy the challenge, especially as I usually try to tie each square up into one story or short connected stories. It definitely helps me to create because there's normally enough breadth to
work with.

What are some of your favorite bingo themes? Are those single events, recurring, or a mix of both?
I really enjoy Winterfest in July and Fall Fest, but also those with a fairly wide general theme, that I can fit into my own fandoms. Also, because it's relaxed, I can change a square so it becomes more appropriate - one example being when there were a collection of famous cookery book titles, I changed some of mine from American to British to find the equivalent.

Do you participate in other bingo communities? If so, what are some of your favorites?
No, but I do enjoy bingos when my other communities run one, like [community profile] whatif_au is currently running a bingo.

Do you typically create fills in the same format or fandom, or spread them out over different kinds? What will readers find in your work?
Normally fanfic, although for Crafting I posted collages of different crafts I do which fitted. Generally a bit of fluff, a bit of casefic, the odd bit of crack.

Have you ever made blackout (filled all the prompts on a card)? If so, how many times?
I do normally make a blackout, but then I tend to go for 2x2 cards, or 3x3 cards for drabble month.

Have you ever hosted a bingo fest here? If so, what was your favorite theme(s)? If not, what themes might you fantasize about hosting?
I hosted one last year, based on New Adventures titles.
