I meant to get this up a little earlier, but here we go.
On January 1st, a whole slew of things come into the public domain, including the last of the Sherlock Holmes stories. In the United States, all works first published in 1927 are now available for adaption, performance, and copying. Because those are the easiest lists to find, that's what I focused on. I'm only human so before you send something to an agent, double check.
In other parts of the world, coming into the public domain are works by people who died in 1952, for countries with a copyright term of “life plus 70 years” (e.g. UK, Russia, most of EU and South America); and works by people who died in 1972, for countries with a term of “life plus 50 years” (e.g. New Zealand, and most of Africa and Asia).
This fest will run from January 1-31 and I'll provide 3x3 public cards to get y'all started.
