Public Domain Day

We desperately need someone to host the Public Domain Day fest for January. It's not a huge amount of work, as you can find title lists online. I'd really rather not run two in a row, and I'm already booked for Valentines in February. Any volunteers?

EDIT 12/28/24 -- Big thanks to [personal profile] silvercat17 for hosting the Public Domain Day fest for 2025.  \o/

2025 Bingo

This entry over at [community profile] goals_on_dw has a blank 2025 bingo card for you to fill with whatever you wish, around a center square that says "Survive."  You could do New Year's resolutions, crazy things politicians do or say, fanfics you hope to write, fanart you'd love to find, anything.

Three Weeks for Dreamwidth

Watch for the upcoming event Three Weeks for Dreamwidth, running April 25-May 15. Folks post content only visible on Dreamwidth, and there are usually memes and other activities too. Mark your calendars!

This year I'm planning to focus on questions and questionnaires as a means of building community. That'll create a few good anchor posts along with the daily question posts.

If anyone else wants to make or copy their Three Weeks posts here, anything on the subject of creative bingo or similar challenges is welcome.

Friending Meme

The New Year is a good time for a friending meme. Lots of folks dust off their blogs in January, and [community profile] snowflake_challenge is running (one of Dreamwidth's biggest events). You can answer here, and copy your response to your own blog to stir up more interest if you wish.

Can you mix bingo and NaNoWriMo? Yes!

Some folks may be wondering if it's okay to mix bingo and NaNoWriMo.  Yes, it is!

You can use any bingo card you have or make for your NaNoWriMo project.  Look on our Bingo Card Generator and you'll find many relevant prompt lists including things like:
Characterbuilding
Culturebuilding
Group Dynamics
Horror Tropes
Childhood Experiences
Desperate Siituations
Emotions
End of the World
Gentle Fiction
Plot Tropes
Problems That Can't Be Solved By Hitting
Setting Tropes
Themes
Time Periods
Worldbuilding

If you click 1x1 in the size settings, it gives you a single prompt.  Grid cards go from 2x2 to 5x5.  Put those three sizes together and you've covered November.  So you could choose a prompt for each day of the month if you're worried about getting stuck.

Also if you're doing NaNoWriMo and you want to gain new readers, or you're a reader looking for projects to follow, I'm running support posts on my blog where participants can post about their activities.
