Decide whether you want science fiction or fantasy focus –or if you're brave enough to blend them-- and then create five fictional historical figures. Leonardo DaVinci is famous centuries later, but many of his apprentices disappeared into history. What if one of them was integral to the development of your new world?
Don't go for full developments. Pick five favorite people from history, and either slip someone (fictional) near them, and their major focus (Science? Literature? Philosophy? Art?)
You're 2/3 done… now just write a little bit in each one's own voice, about everyday events. That's where the prompt comes in.
Okay, great, you've got bingo… now what? Nothing's complete!
Put it in your notes about your new world and just play with it. Little bits of data, little details, will come out in your active stories almost without trying to do so. You're thinking about this world as different than the real world, and it'll show up in the stories.
These are all just suggestions, and I'm estimating no more than 2,000 words are needed to set it all up. Not bad, for a full bingo!
