1) Use of cylinders, rectangles, and other simple shapes with caps or junctures added on for relatively simple construction. Sometimes these use pattern pieces that are made back-and-forth like a blanket, than rolled into shape and secured. It doesn't look quite as good as other methods, but is easier to do.
2) Heavy use of increases and decreases creates more complex and realistic shapes, but is more challenging to do right. These often spiral.
