Over on
whumpable there's a post about writing Hurt/Comfort meta, along the lines of the kink descriptions done for
kink_wiki. Since we didn't have a September fest, I thought this would be a fun addition. It will be open for posting from September 1-30.
There are no official requirements for this fest, but meta works best when you explain things in detail. A typical description includes the name of the trope, an image and/or video of it from any canon, a description of what it is including some popular variations, an explanation of what makes it fun to use for creators and fans, cross-references to other related tropes, links to canon examples, and links to fanwork examples. For Hurt/Comfort in particular, you may find it useful to discuss what kind of character or situation this trope works best with, what its most popular or effective complements are (i.e. for Hurt X, try Comfort A, B, C), and effective vs. ineffective treatments for the type of Hurt (or what Hurts this kind of Comfort works on); noting that the popular combinations are not always the same as what's medically advisable. We can also allow nonfiction references in Hurt/Comfort because so many of the tropes are thing that actually happen. Mix and match if you wish.
Meta is a legitimate fill for
hc_bingo (which is currently open) and has a minimum of 1000 words. You may use your official card from that fest for this one, and use your fills from here to apply there if you meet their requirements.
Here is a public card in case you like Hurt/Comfort tropes but aren't playing
hc_bingo this round.

Okay...

>> Also, I come from a country that still has arranged marriages. I could give this one a try. <<
Sure, go for it. Arranged marriages, if entered voluntarily, just have a different set of advantages and disadvantages that picking your own spouse freehand, and that's worth distinguishing. (I've had some fascinating conversations with Muslim and Hindu friends on this topic.) But if forced, they're a serious problem -- especially for underage girls.

Fixed, thanks. I substituted "hostile climate."
