Introduction: lightbird
Hi everyone. I discovered this community via my recent involvement in the
snowflake_challenge and figured I should finally introduce myself.
I am
lightbird here on DW,
lightbird777 on LJ,
snarky_panda on AO3 (I've been writing under the dramatic_owl pseud) and
dramaticowl on tumblr.
I've mostly written fanfic but have recently been branching out into creating picspams and rec sets (I love reading and discovering new works and enjoy passing great stuff on to others). I read fic and enjoy other types of fanworks in many different fandoms but I've only created fanworks in 4 fandoms: Mulan, Hey Arnold!, Quantum Leap and Double Indemnity.
For the most part I've been using bingo cards as inspiration just to get writing, but they've also prompted me to work with new ideas and themes, and in different fandoms. I particularly enjoyed the most recent
ladiesbingo challenge, which got me thinking and writing about women characters and relationships between women, something I don't think I did enough of before in my own creation (and it also got me writing in one of my very first fandoms again).
Recently I completed 3 bingos: (1)
ladiesbingo here; (2)
dark_bingo here; and (3)
trope_bingo round 3 here, all on time, which I'm very proud of since on my first try I only managed to post 2 fics during amnesty (second time I got the full bingo but again during amnesty). There was a lot of cross-fulfillment between bingos but all the communities are cool with that so it was okay. I did single-line bingos for all 3, but since I have a few more months left until
trope_bingo's round 3 deadline I'm going to try to fill some more squares (aiming for a blackout but we'll see). The fills for this bingo were all picspams and rec sets, so I'd like to add some fics into the mix if I can. My card is here in this post.

This place looks fun. I still need to make my intro post.
Welcome!

You have a nice mix of cards as well.
Re: Welcome!
That's impressive.

Thanks! I like to keep a diversity of things going. Part of the inspiration for this community was the Bingo Card Generator, which makes it possible to use new and different prompt lists. Now people have a place to share cards that didn't come from a fest.
Welcome!
It's good to see you here.

That's encouraging. Bingo seems to work very well for general motivation and diversification.

I write a lot about women, and have several series with dual female leads, but this fest definitely made me write more F&F stuff -- and, yes, think about the relationships more.
Earlier this week I did a bonus Poetry Fishbowl in one of those series, Walking the Beat, which features a lesbian couple living in Jamaica Plain.

Congratulations!

It can take a while to figure out how to use bingo in a way that works for you. My first was
Re: Welcome!
I like reading poetry, though I've never been too good at writing it. I'll check out the work you linked.
Re: Welcome!
I write a ton of poetry. Most of it is narrative, and much is speculative, but I do all kinds. I write a lot of free verse but I'm also really into forms.
Writing poems doesn't have to be difficult. I have some easy how-to pieces on poetry:
You Can Write a Nature Poem
You Can Write a Science Fiction Poem
>>
You still only get 24 of them at a time, plus the wild card in the center space. All the prompts are pretty light in this fest; it's not like, say,
>> But I think I'm going to sign up. I've been writing a lot of dark stuff lately so this would be a nice change for me, and they seem really laid-back and low-pressure, which I like. <<
Go for it! I found this fest to be very relaxing, and my audience loved the fills. I often write edgy stuff, so this is a nice break from that.
Re: Welcome!
I read the first poem of Walking the Beat and really liked it. The concept is great and I will be checking out the other works there. :)
Re: Welcome!
*bow, flourish* Happy to be of service.

I'm glad you liked it! There will probably be more stuff going up in the next few days as poems get sponsored.
