If you're intrigued by the science of alcohol, then you might look into nonalcoholic homebrewing, which is fairly simple and easy to do. I'm fascinated by ginger bugs. I also love fermented root beer when I can find it -- around here, it occasionally shows up at street fairs. Ferments in general are fun to study.
