I was thinking a New Fandom Fest. I don't remember ever doing one of those. Write in a fandom that is new to you.

Okay, what kind of prompts can you come up with for that?

I just thought a mixture of different kind of prompts to give as much choice as possible. If you have another idea I am open. I was also thinking maybe a Drabble Fest. I'm not sure we've done that either. That might be better considering how busy November is and random prompts would work for it. Any thoughts?

I like both those ideas, though you're right that drabbles might be a little easier for those that are strapped for time. For that one, you could use existing lists pretty easily, or also make seasonal lists, since November is a little fall and a little winter in most places. If you want any help making prompt lists or anything, I can probably spare the brain and time to pitch in.

I'm going to switch over to the drabble idea. That was a my first thought anyway. I should be okay with making the public cards. You probably have enough on your plate. I finally got caught-up with writing this afternoon. I don't even want to think about the house.

I didn't think I was ever going to get done writing this month. Of course, a new month starts in a little over 12 hours. I don't know where this year went. I'm behind on everything including the house. It sounds like I'm not alone.

You're definitely not alone. I've had so much going on lately, it's crazy. And I didn't even manage one fill for the fall fest bingo, though I still have 7 hours to go...

Don't ask me how, but I managed to finish my black out for the Fall Fest, but it was only a 3x3 bingo cards and I did 3 prompts per story. I never would have got done if I wrote 9 stories. I barely got my dribbles done. Why is there always too much to do and too little time to do it in?

Congrats on finishing! Multiple prompts in one story is a good way to go. I have no clue; time seems to just disappear, and the to-do list just seems to multiply. It's like a never-ending, losing battle. But sometimes you can make some progress against the ever-coming tide.

Thank you. It didn't help that my combo COVID booster and flu shot ate up a bunch of time last week. I was a zombie for awhile after that. Still considering what's going on in the states it was a smart move. I also have a chronic cough that likke to annoy me on a yearly basis. It's hung on this year. I only had several month of not so bad. I have a feeling that I'm going to bed early. I never got a nap today. That's embarrassing,, but I usually need a nap or two depending on my weird sleep schedule these days. That eats up the time as well.

Oh man, vaccine side effects are never fun, and neither are lingering coughs. I can understand the need for naps; my sleep schedule has been all over the place lately, but I usually don't have time for a nap. Sleep does take up time too, especially if you have a non-standard pattern going on.

I don't know what is up with these weird sleep patterns these days. I hear a lot of people say their's are like that, too. I keep wondering about stress, COVID, Climate Change. There's something going on. I've been wondering if the planet just wants the humans gone.

Those could all be factors. Plus, if there is more stress and unpleasant things going on, the temptation to just sleep it all away and ignore is a lot higher than if everything is going smoothly. And frankly, I wouldn't blame the planet if it did want humans gone. We can be damn stupid and destructive sometimes.

It doesn't help that the human population has more than doubled since I was in JR High School. That just blows my mind.

Either my JR High Geography teacher was wrong or my memory is off, but Google told me that I was wrong. Google said that there were 4.4 billion humans in 1980 and not 3 billion. That's still double the population and nuts.

So knock off something quick. I know the frustration of a blank card. Me, I've been planting bulbs.

I started something yesterday, but didn't finish it. Perhaps I will have time today. I don't think it will be long, a handful of paragraphs probably, but I'm happy with the beginning of it so far.

I'd suggest drabbles AND bill it as either "Jump-starts for Nanowrimo" or the anti-Nanowrimo, but I have a weird sense of humor. blackout with two hundred word drabbles is 5K words TOTAL. I could do that even with my current real life obligations plus writing plans.

What is an anti-Nanowrimo? I can put the Jump-starts in the description of the fest. I was going to do different types of drabbles as well.

Nanowrimo is a writing event that's kind of popular. (Understatement.) It stands for National Novel Writing Month, and the goal is to write 50K of a first draft of a novel, usually in the month of November.

Therefore, writing at most twenty-five two hundred word drabbles seems to be the antithesis of it.

I knew about Nanowrimo. I can't even wrap my mind around doing that. I just broke the 60,000 word mar for so far this year. I can't imagine writing that much in one month. I'm impressed by the people who can.

Bear in mind that I'm not employed. My worst writing month on record is only 30k because of a save fail on the spreadsheet. I couldn't be bothered to open every document to rebuild the word count. *G*

I don't work outside the home either, but there's so much to do and I don't sleep well anymore. I'm sitting her looking at al the crap I have to do and just can't get to it today. I have to get back on schedule.

About eight years ago, I began bicameral sleeping. It's insomnia with at twist. Trying not to wake the husband and kids, I started reading fanfic in that window when I was supposed to be sleeping. Then I started writing. It worked for years. Next time you can't sleep, get up, set a timer for fifteen minutes, then write. Noodle ideas. Jot notes for a character or setting. When the timer goes off, go back to bed and try again.

Eventually, I worked the waking time in the middle of the night down to two hours, and it helped tremendously. I also added an hour to each end of the sleep brackets, and that helped more.

I have had repeated "out of spoons error" occasions over the last week or so, but that's likely due to all the extra yardwork.

I'm trying to figure out what to use for lists on the Drabble Fest. My brain is is being ridiculous. I don't usually have issues with that. I'll pull it together. This is going to be fun.

That's what I was doing earlier. I got a little sleep so now I feel better and much more clear-headed. that will help when my headache goes away I can get this fest up and running.

I'm not a fan of drabbles myself, but with several other folks all over that proposal, I'd say go with the one that's attracting the most attention.

I really like that Jump Start idea. I will add that to the other ideas that I had.

October was fall, December will be nature, and we did Winterfest in July, so seasons are covered already.

Multi-list fests have been very popular, with short lists of prompts based on subthemes. Looking at your base theme, possibilities include:

* Firsts (first episode / issue / book)
-- meet-cute
-- meet-ugly
-- first kiss
-- first fight
-- foreshadowing

* Particulars (things unique to a fandom or at least rare)
-- daemons
-- dragons / fire lizards
-- asexuality
-- sedoretu
-- troll romance

Locking the whole fest to one form could discourage people who aren't into that. But a sublist designed for small fills would be fantastic. I just recommended this community to someone busy who was looking for easy fanac.

I hadn't planned to stick to just the traditional 100 word drabble. I was thinking Drabble thru Quintuple and possibly poetry. I can't remember the style I was thinking There was a suggestion that I also add a Jump Start option for long works.

I'm confused a little about your list suggestions. It hink I'm just tired at the moment.

Jumping on a bit late but I'd love a drabble bingo. I might well be tempted to go for something longer than my usual 2x2 card!

It's going to be a Drabble Fest. :-)I should of thought of that first. November is so busy that was the clear answer from the beginning.

You know me. You know how I write prompt fills--keeping it under 2k is sometimes a challenge. So, I'd write a "drabble" as the opening page of a longer piece, and set them aside for later fleshing out as I have time.
