Platonic Love Fest

Welcome to the Platonic Love Fest! Posting is open September 1-30.

What is platonic love? To put it simply, it is love that does not include either romantic intent or sexual attraction. In platonic love, there is no sex, no attraction, and no romance. There IS affection, fondness, intense interest in each other’s lives and well-being. “Individuals who say they are in a platonic relationship talk frequently about their intense longing to be with one another, and their unique ability to stay emotionally and mentally connected despite living in opposite areas of the globe, or through temporary separations.”

These are the relationships that we often find ourselves turning to when we need someone who sees us, understands us, wants to be there for us . . . and there is no pressure for sex or marriage or exclusivity. That’s not where they come from or where they are going to. Platonic love is a special connection on an emotional and spiritual basis between people who love, admire, and are committed to each other. It is sturdy, unwavering, and unconditional. It is an intimacy that has nothing to do with lust or romance.

Do you have a best friend who knows all your secrets?

Do you have someone who is closer than a sibling?

Do you have that person in your life?

Then you've got a platonic love.
