The summer I was eleven was interesting: I spent a good part of it inventing a language. The first version... oh, it stank. You can probably guess how quickly I shredded those notes! The second and third were better, but never achieved the level of complexity I wanted. It did, however give me a permanent tic whenever I found things like the English teacher sophomore year who insisted that "shan't" was NOT a word, or the person who insists that "Bobby and me went to the store," is a grammatically correct sentence.
Do you ever have the urge to write a deliberate badfic, mocking all of your personal pet peeves? After a few days (and a few hundred horrible examples in fan fiction,) it can be very, very cathartic.
